I always recommend using organic ingredients whenever they are available to you.
8 cups of 2% reduced-fat organic milk
3/4 cup of packed dark brown organic sugar
1/3 cup of unsweetened organic cocoa
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 ounces semisweet organic chocolate, finely chopped
12 candy canes
3/4 cup miniature marshmallows
Whole grated nutmeg
Find a large saucepan and combine the milk, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, nutmeg, and semisweet chocolate.
Cook 25 minutes over medium low heat. The chocolate should be melted and mixture is smooth, stirring occasionally.
Serve with candy canes and marshmallows.
Garnish with whole grated nutmeg as an added taste treat.
