Acne is a skin condition where hair follicles and the dead skin holds oil secretions. This can affect a person’s face, shoulder, upper back and even the neck. Acne can be characterized by whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and even oily skin. It usually occurs at puberty.

The appearance of this acne induced skin condition leads to anxiety and even reduced self esteem. Genetics, without any argument, is one important thing that plays a role in this and it is said that it is responsible for 80% of instances of acne. Eating fewer complex carbohydrates is considered to aid in lessening the acne effect on the skin.

Acne can occur at any given time; however, it’s best to treat it as quickly as possible to avoid getting a scar due to the pimple. It can affect 3 out of 4 people aged from 11-30. It is not deadly or fatal, but it tends to leave behind scars. There are some common home remedies to treat skin breakouts that are essentially caused due to acne and dead skin.

Home remedies can work just as effectively as any doctors prescribed medicine as there are hundreds and thousands of products to choose from grocery and medical stores. However, if there is no improvement, then it’s best to visit a doctor and discus this with him.

Common causes are excessive oil production, hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells, bacteria and excess activity of a type of hormone. Stress doesn’t help make the process easy in anyway and it has adverse effects on skin.

It’s common in teenagers as well due to stress and hormonal changes that occur in both men and women in their puberty.

There are many different types of pimples, which are as follows:

  • Whiteheads
  • Blackheads
  • Papules
  • Pustules
  • Nobules
  • Cysts
