Victoria Beckham is probably most well-known for her time in the female pop group Spice Girls, but singing and dancing aren’t her only passions. She is also a business women, fashion designer, model, and health-conscious mother of four.
You may be asking, how on earth can Victoria possibly keep up a healthy lifestyle with so much on her plate already? I have heard similar questions from many of my patients over the years who feel that adding a healthy diet to their long list of things to do is much too overwhelming. I don’t pretend that it’s not a sacrifice, and I won’t say that it’s easy. But there are plenty of simple things you can do to make it just a bit more manageable.
And while we don’t have all of Victoria’s secrets, she has recently revealed one of her healthy tricks that you may find worth a try!
Victoria’s Go-To Alternative Sweetener
Victoria shared a photo on her social media of her go-to sweetener saying, “I am totally into these ‘sweet drops’. Anyone know where I can get them in London?” The picture showed two bottles of SweetLeaf Sweet Drops Liquid Stevia, one in chocolate flavor and another in caramel, sitting next to her morning cup of coffee.
Unfortunately for Victoria, this great sugar-alternative isn’t easily available in the UK, but they are sold widely in the US! The drops are zero calories, sugar-free and contain no artificial sweeteners, which is a great way to get the sweetness you’re looking for without the accompanying guilt. Along with chocolate and vanilla other flavors include coconut and a flavor-free option. (1)
Stevia’s Sweet Secrets
I definitely side with Victoria and say that stevia is the best sweetener option for a healthy lifestyle, whether you decide to go with the SweetLeaf brand or another alternative. Stevia is great a natural substitute made from the leaves of the stevia plant. Along with containing no calories or sugar, it has anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties. Stevia has also been found to assist with glucose regulation, and it doesn’t raise blood sugar levels. (2, 3)
If you’re still not convinced there’s the extra bonus that stevia cultivation and production conserves more energy than any other sweetener, and that definitely counts for something! I always recommend stevia to my patients, especially for those who are diabetic or sticking to a low calorie diet as stevia is honestly the best option for everyone. I confidently put it at the top of my list of best sugars and sweeteners. You can see my full list of Sugars & Sweeteners Ranked From Best To Worst if you want more information about the best and healthiest sweeteners out there. (4, 5)
Trying to maintain healthy habits while keeping up with the business of life is a challenge no matter who you are or what your current lifestyle is. The best advice I can give is to make small changes everyday, and reward yourself for your progress, no matter how small! This is why I love sharing my stevia secret with patients, because replacing your sugar intake with a healthy alternative is so much easier than simply vowing to give up sweets forever. Try it yourself, and you may find it impossible to ever go back.
