EPISODE OVERVIEW:

Dr. Nandi often gets asked, “I want to be healthy and lose weight, but I’m confused. What can I eat?” This may surprise you but contrary to popular belief, dieting is not necessary for long-term weight loss and having good health. Diets don’t work well for many reasons that range from psychology to biology. But the bottom line is, the dieting mentality doesn’t work and healthy eating doesn’t need to be complicated.

In this episode Dr. Nandi and two Registered Dietitians help guide you through the in’s and out’s of healthy eating. Also joining the conversation is a woman who tried many different diets to control her weight, along with a blogger whose food choices led him to kick off an annual healthy eating campaign.

PARTHA’S RX:

  1. If you want long-term results, you need to commit to making smart lifestyle choices everyday. The dieting mentality doesn’t work. Don’t deprive yourself, but eat in moderation, starting your meal off with nutrient dense foods first .

  2. The more fruits and veggies you eat, the more likely you’ll have a healthy body weight. Start with the veggies you do like and try preparing them in new ways like roasting, grilling, or eating them in sandwiches. Then slowly start experimenting with new veggies, you can learn to like them over time.

  3. Meal planning and meal prepping do take time, but in the end it’ll save you time and more importantly, keep you on track with your wellness goals.

  4. And lastly, always talk with your doctor before starting any weight-loss diet or program. This is especially important if you have kidney disease, diabetes or other chronic health condition.
